Meet our new Chief Commercial Officer! Media heavyweight joins Blippar North America

We are excited to announce that media veteran Ariff Quli has joined Blippar to lead our rapidly expanding team across four US offices following recent $45m funding round. Quli brings with him 20 years of experience in media and publishing, and has played a significant role in the strategic growth of key advertising and technology companies such as CNET Networks, IDG, PC Mall & MicroWarehouse (CDW).

Quli joins Blippar from Vibrant media, where he held the role of President of the Americas. In this position, Quli helped drive the company’s impressive growth and shaped the strategic direction of the business, attracting the attention of top advertisers including Procter & Gamble, Microsoft, General Motors and IBM. As one of the founding team members, Quli also led U.S. business teams and was responsible for Vibrant’s overall vision, including business development and the execution of go-to-market strategy for digital, mobile and programmatic channels. During his tenure, Vibrant evolved into a global native advertising platform with over 6,500 premium publishers, reaching more than 250 million unique users per month.

Speaking about his new role at Blippar, Quili said: ‘No one has yet to crack the code when it comes to visual search and I believe Blippar has the team and the capabilities to do so. We want to do for the world, what Google did for the Web. Following twenty five years in the media and publishing industries, I am looking forward to joining a truly disruptive company at such a crucial phase in its evolution and playing a valuable role in Blippar’s ongoing mission to proliferate an entirely new consumer behavior.’

At Blippar, Quli will be responsible for centralizing the company’s efforts in North America and determining key performance indicators to measure its long-term growth and success. During a live demo at SXSW in March 2015 Blippar announced it will be expanding its current capabilities to offer a visual browser for the physical world. Quil will play a key role in driving this new aspect of the business forward, while also maintaining momentum for Blippar’s existing image recognition and augmented reality offerings.

‘As Blippar enters a new phase in its evolution we are excited about bringing on a wide range of talented individuals from diverse professional backgrounds and we are thrilled to have Ariff on board,’ said Ambarish Mitra, Founder and CEO of Blippar. ‘Ariff’s experience and success in the media and publishing worlds will be a huge asset as we look to take our U.S. business to the next level, broaden our network of relationships with industry leading brands and nurture our existing ones.’
