How do you get a job at an innovative company?

We’re growing lightning-fast here at Blippar, opening new offices around the world and welcoming new faces onto our team every single day.

It’s an exciting phase for us, but we have to remember not to get carried away and forget who we are and what we’re building.

A wise man once said a company’s success is down to its team, so it’s crucial we continue hiring awesome people who are passionate about what we’re doing with augmented reality, and can’t wait to help us make the world blippable.

One question we’re often asked is to do with the hiring process: how does someone go from being an ordinary Joe, to being the newest member of Blippar? What sort of people are you looking for?

So we thought we’d give you all a few pointers.

First of all, a disclaimer: we’re a really friendly bunch. Honest. We don’t want to trick you during your telephone interview or trip you up with fiddly questions when you come in to meet us. Predominantly, we just want to see if you’d be a good fit within our team, and whether you’ll be able to do the job properly.

The main stages to the hiring process are applying with your CV; a telephone interview with our recruiter; meeting the relevant hiring manager; a quick test either at home or in the office; a group interview; a reference check, and finally an offer.

And what sort of people get through to that final stage? Well, here goes….

Whenever we look at blipps we feel as though we’re looking into the future; we predict lots of blipps in the future, you see. It’s important to us that everyone who works here has an active imagination, and an even more active crystal ball.

AR & image-recognition are such a rapidly developing technologies that things around here change pretty quickly. No two days look the same at Blippar, so if you enjoy a predictable 9-5 routine you might be a little overwhelmed.

4. Aren’t passengers

We’re looking for doers, not people who need piggybacking through the week. Our team is very proactive, full of team players who are happy to set themselves goals and toil away alone when they need to.
