How does blippar work?
Blippar uses the camera in your smartphone/ tablet to recognise images that are ‘blippable’ and return a response. That response could be anything from a simple weblink or video play through to a competition, interactive game, poll, coupon... anything! You won’t know what until you blipp....
How do I blipp?
Open the blippar app, wait for it to sync with the latest content and then hold it up in camera mode to the image you want to recognise. Fill the screen with as much of the image as possible – whether an ad, article, photo, label or logo. Hold still and enjoy!
Use the ‘hold’ feature of the hand in the corner of the screen to hold the blipp content and take it away from the trigger image. Use the ‘share’ camera icon to snap a picture and share your blippar experiences with friends via email, facebook and twitter.
How do I know what I can blipp?
Look in the in-app catalogue, which updates as each new blipp goes live. Alternatively, look for the blippar ‘b’ in the real world, in newspapers, magazines, shops, billboards or on your favourite products... Anywhere! We keep a good selection up to date on blippar.com for you to return to.
It’s not working! Why?
The most common reason for a fail is that the user hasn’t waited for the app to ‘sync’ when they’ve opened blippar (so it doesn’t know to recognise what you’re trying to blipp). Another reason might be that the correct image isn’t being blipped – check what exactly needs to be blipped (the whole ad, a logo, an element on the page or the whole page?) and ensure image fills the screen. If nothing happens, move camera off the image and back again. Ensure that there is no light reflecting off the image. In poor light conditions turn the phone torch on (tap the blippar logo to turn light on). Check regularly for app updates to ensure you have the latest, most optimised version of the app.
Some phones are not compatible with Blippar due to slower processing speeds, or poorer camera resolutions. We are continually working to optimise the app for as many devices as possible.
Why doesn’t it work on my blackberry/ windows device?
Blippar is not yet available on blackberry or windows operating systems. We are looking to offer this functionality during 2012. Watch this space and sign up to our facebook and twitter to be kept abreast of latest developments.
Can I create my own blipps?
Not at this time. Blippar is a platform for media owners and brands – to bring more exciting content and interactive opportunities to their readers and users. But watch this space, as our business is continuing to evolve... If you are a brand or media owner and wish to create blipps, find out more in the Partners page.
